"I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do." - Leonardo da Vinci

How to become a calculated Risk Taker: Part 3

Calculated risk taking is a skill that needs to be developed. It’s the idea of challenging yourself to be comfortable with the uncomfortable because with risk there is always a chance that you will experience success or failure.

As athletes work toward their goal(s) for the future, it’s important to write it, see it, hear it, say it, and own it. Creating a Vision Board / Training Board is a way of picturing and imagining what you need to do on a daily basis to accomplish your goal(s).

🗝

Keys to creating a Vision Board / Training Board:

1. Set the Intention: find pictures, statements, and quotes that remind you of your vision statement and process goals.

2. Big Picture: have images of what you hope to achieve for the season or the next 3-6 months.

3. Keep it Action Oriented: focus on the process. You can have a picture of a gold medal to remind you of your outcome goal, but make sure to also have images that remind you of how good it feels to work hard and go the extra mile.

4. Display It: hang and/or post your vision board where you can always see it. It’s your daily dose of motivation. Hang the display board in your room and have a picture of it as wallpaper on your phone.

5. Work in Progress: like goals, your vision and vision board change over time. As you make progress and achieve your goals or if you suffer a setback, change it up and keep it relevant.
